My message: While looking for an address for Barbourville UMC, I learned that Delila Miller is a pastor. I was surprised but shouldn't have been.

As the widowed mother of two sons, then 6 and 10, who moved to Barbourville from Kansas, I leaned on my church to be my family, a lot. It was Delila, then secretary and in the office full time, who caught my weight, usually involving my younger son. She was so kind and loving to us both, when he was too young and I was too stressed to know that she had a job to do and we were in the way.

Jesse spent last semester with a campus ministry in Thailand doing relational evangelism. At age 7, it wasn't obvious he'd embrace the faith and a little rejection could easily have sent him the other way. Delila should take some of the credit for how he turned out and the witness he gave half a world away.

My message: We are surrounded by many things that sometimes make us think we can let serving the Lord slide. I am here to tell you we can't slow down for a moment letting the ones around us know we are Christians and that they should be also. Be sure to mention the Lord and how he has blessed you every...every...every day! Thank God for the United Methodist Church. "I am proud to have been a member for 55 years." God bless all of you.
